Halloween Contest - Deadline Nov7th

If you attended the Halloween webinar, you know that we started a Halloween contest! Photos are due on Nov. 7th by midnight. The photos can be of anything Halloween. Pumpkin patches, jack o lanterns, trick o treating, costumes, etc. That gives you 1 week after Halloween to cleanup your photos and turn them into me. Remember, you can't win if you don't send them in! The photos will be posted on the blog after the 7th.

Seeley has offered to donate a $25 gift certificate to Target for the prize! How amazing is that?

So get out there this weekend and shoot!

We have a winner!

It is official. The second Introduction to Photography class homework contest closed this past weekend and I can not introduce the Blog winner.

It is #9, Chanda A. , one of our newer members! This image is her son Paul at a park. I love the sparkle in his eye and the framing of the slide. Pure love and joy in his face. You have to love it!

You did a great job Chanda. And looks like you have a following.

Each contest, I will also pick a fStop favorite. It isn't necessarily the one that one the most votes, but the one that caught our eye. This award goes to #5, from Lee Anna L. I think she did an amazing job with this photo. The depth of feel is fantastic! The musicians in my house were drooling.

You two can post your winning icons on your website or blogs (I will send them to you)! Congrats ladies. And to the rest of you guys, the photos were amazing. Competition was tough. Keep trying, maybe next time will be your time!

Think Pink Week

Ok, many of you know it is Think Pink Week! My mom is a breast cancer survivor, which our family is very proud of. So in honor of that. You all have until next Monday to send me send me any photo that you think shows the theme PINK!

We will do the normal thing of posting the entries that I get and voting. The winner will get a gift certificate to Kid to Kid! I know I shop there all of the time. I'm assuming most of you do too. So, start thinking. You have one week! Get shooting. It can have the color pink in it, the word pink, it can even insinuate pink. Just send it in! For example, here is one.

Good luck!

Woodlands Fall Photo Opportunities

Ok, so this is a little sneak peak of the webinar, but I figured you might need to know before the 27th. So here goes...

These are some that I have heard about or driven by.
  • Dewberry Farms - long drive but I have heard it is worth it!
  • The Woodlands UMC - starting this weekend they will have pumpkins, can't beat that location
  • Faith UMC on Sawdust - great selection and if you go during the day, there isn't a sole there
  • 7 acre woods in Conroe - all organic and has all kinds of other stuff to do there too!
  • TGR exotics in Spring - has pumpkins and animals, what could be better! They have strange hours so check their website for more details.
  • Hay Maze benefiting Young Life - Good cause with lots of fun activities! - Woodlands United Methodist Sports Field, 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr. Weekends only. Saturdays 10am - 5pm, Sundays 12:00 noon to 6pm. Cost is $5 per person. Kids 3 and under are free!
  • The "Pumpkin Patch" will be held at the W. Goodrich Jones State Forest from Oct 16-24. The 1,733 acre forest is located on F.M.1488, approximately 1 mile west of 1-45, or approximately 2 miles east of SH 242. Click here for more information on the W. Goodrich Jones State Forest or the Texas Forest Service. To get a map of the forest click here.
I'm sure there are many others, but those are the ones I can think of right now. I will add more when I see them. Happy pumpkin hunting!

Last call for contest entries!

If you attended the last Introduction to Photography webinar, or read the PDF of the slides and participated in the 2 weeks of homework, you know that you have until tomorrow to turn in your photographs to me.

So send me your photos! Please keep your photos to about 1mg in size and choose your favorite 1 or 2 to send me. I will post them to the blog this weekend.

Then you will see a similar poll like the last on the fStop blog. I will place a link from this website to remind you where to look.

Happy shooting!
